Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet mess (spills and staining) in one session without having to swap out devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacles avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads from the dock that is specifically designed for them.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For instance, you can ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent and the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only issue is that it tends to hit objects and walls at full speed. However, a quick look at the cleaning history on the app will tell you exactly what the robot has accomplished, where it's going, and which obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
The docking station features a handy LCD screen that shows when maintenance is needed for cleaning up debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time and the mop is capable of running for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. And you can see the full cleaning details in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend, though we would like to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could be unable to pick up.
Like the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which can help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can automatically alter its path and clean the objects without a pause.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is eye catching, and it only has three physical buttons. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock and a home-button that can send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin fills up automatically.
The only issue I have found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these using the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and track battery life. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has exceptional suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its intelligent design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the best alternatives available. This powerful vacuum removes the dry mess, which includes pet hair and dust. It also has a high-quality mop that makes hard floors sparkling clean, even without a wet pad. The X40 is also very quiet when in operation, with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 has an additional side brush that can be lifted and extended. This lets it reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean curved furniture such as table and chair legs. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is simple and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress, and alert you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many features which make it a good option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, washes mop pads and refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is filled and alert you before it gets overflowing, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. However, it has many features that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.
The mops are cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen in other robot mop or vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.
There's a wealth of settings on offer which include the ability to schedule cleaning times and alter a variety of preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers a variety of options to customize your cleaning routine. The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen in the market, with metallic and white colors that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy either, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping system is well-designed and the double-rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. They can also extend up to 2mm of baseboards due to the MopExtend feature which is a nice feature.
